You are required to be licensed with the AESBL:

If you and/or your company advertise in any capacity that you engage in the business of alarm systems, closed circuit television systems (CCTV), electronic access control systems, locksmithing, and/or alarm monitoring by means of selling, installing, maintaining, or repairing. Such advertising includes, but is not limited to, television and/or radio ads, prints ads, and online digital ads. Such advertising would also include posting on social media that you offer any of these services and/or having signage on your vehicle that you offer any of these services.

If you and/or your company undertakes the sale, installation, maintenance, and/or repair of a security system—including, but not limited to, CCTV and electronic access control—or any type of mechanical locking system for any type of compensation or in exchange for something of value.

If you are an installer or a door-to-door salesperson for an alarm or locksmith company who crosses the threshold and enters a person’s home or business for the purpose of selling, installing, maintaining, and/or repairing a security system or mechanical locking system.

If you and/or your company creates or copies transponder keys, key fobs, proximity keys, smart keys, door and ignition key devices, successive electronic and other high security key technology, or any other automotive keys and electronic operating devices connected to motor vehicles.

If you are an administrative employee for an alarm and/or locksmith company who has access to sensitive customer information which includes, but is not limited to, credit card or banking information, Social Security numbers, and alarm system passwords or passcodes.
